Fees & engagement

Four fee bands, agreed before any work starts.

Consultation fees occupy four bands, the widest topping out at €200, decided by how much reading the brief demands. The band and the exact figure are confirmed in writing before research begins.

Fee bands

What each band covers.

Fee band Typical work
€1–€50 per consultation Reading a single listing, or the price of one car against its market
€51–€100 per consultation Sourcing against a brief, or a specification review of one candidate
€101–€150 per consultation Budget planning, or setting several candidates side by side
€151–€200 per consultation Decision support across a whole shortlist before viewings

Prices are in pounds sterling and are quoted per consultation. Where a purchase completes against research we carried out, the completion basis is set out in the same engagement note — not as a percentage, but as an agreed figure stated in the document.

How an engagement runs

Scope, figure, then work.

1 · Brief
You send the requirements. We read them back with any gap that matters.
2 · Scope
A short note setting out what the research will cover and what it will not.
3 · Figure
The fee band and the exact amount, in writing, before anything starts.
4 · Work
The research is carried out and the written file is delivered.
5 · Handover
You get the file. Nothing is added to the bill afterwards because a search was harder.

What the fee does not buy

No purchase, no negotiation, no guarantee.

The fee buys research and a written deliverable. It does not buy a car, and it does not include inspecting, collecting or negotiating on one. We do not act as your agent in a transaction and we take nothing from any seller. Because the research stays on the legal side of a purchase, it cannot promise an outcome — only the reading that precedes one.

Next step

Ask for a scope and a figure. Both come back in writing.
